Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to ensure the best outcome for your tattoo. If I’ve provided you with different instructions, please prioritize the ones outlined here. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.
Day 1 (Tattoo Day)
-
Caring for the initial bandage
-
Keep the bandage on until the following morning.
-
If you shower that night, avoid getting the bandage wet, as it could trap water and interfere with the healing process.
-
Day 2
-
Removing the initial bandage
-
In the morning, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
-
Carefully remove the bandage and dispose of it.
-
-
Cleaning the tattooed area
-
Take a shower to make cleaning the tattooed area easier.
-
Gently wash the tattoo with warm water and fragrance-free soap.
-
Allow the area to air dry or pat it dry with disposable paper towels. Do not use fabric towels, as they may contain bacteria.
-
-
Applying the second bandage
-
Once the area is completely dry, apply the second bandage I provided you with.
-
Do not apply any cream before putting on the bandage.
-
Use medical adhesive tape to secure the bandage properly.
-
Day 3
-
Removing the second bandage
-
Wash your hands thoroughly before removing the second bandage.
-
Clean the tattoo again with warm water and soap.
-
Dry the tattoo as described earlier, ensuring there are no wet areas.
-
-
Applying moisturizer
-
Once the tattoo is dry, apply a very thin layer of tattoo-specific moisturizer or a recommended cream.
-
Important: If any area of the tattoo is still moist or leaking fluid, do not apply cream to that spot.
-
Daily care (for approximately 10 days)
-
Clean the tattoo and apply moisturizer twice a day (morning and night).
-
Avoid direct sunlight, soaking in water (swimming pools, beaches, hot tubs), and wearing tight or synthetic clothing that might irritate the skin.
Additional precautions
-
It’s normal for the skin to itch or peel slightly. Do not scratch or pick at any scabs.
-
If you notice any signs of infection (severe redness, swelling, warmth, intense pain, or unusual discharge), contact me, and I’ll guide you on what to do.
